It's All About Ekin

Mawi & Ekin

Tudung Ekin

If u knew Mawi, i bet u knew Ekin. From their glamorous 1001 Malam wedding theme to controversy either to invite Ina Naim(Mawi's ex-fiance) or not to their wedding ceremony make people muak with all their stories. Believe it or not, traders already make use of their popularities by named a tudung after Ekin. I knew about this tudung Ekin when going out with my sister, cousin & auntie a few days ago to shopping mall. When at the shopping mall, they hopped from one shop to another to look for this tudung Ekin. When i google tudung Ekin, i found a lot of information about this tudung. This tudung named after Ekin because it once wore by Ekin. The price of this tudung range from RM50-RM70 & there are 2 types of tudung Ekin: Tudung Ekin Awning Penuh & Tudung Ekin Awning Separuh. Now i knew why my sister, cousin & auntie so karan to buy tudung Ekin.

Facebook Mania

Its been couple of month since my last posting. Busy with my work, puasa, raya & my passionate about diving. At first, i would like to share what i'm done for the past month through my blog. Then my friend persuaded me to join Facebook. He told me that this Facebook sort of like blog but more interactive. I already knew about this Facebook 2 years back but i don't even bother to get into it. During my last diving trip at Pulau Perhentian, all my diver friends asking me either i have the Facebook account or not. They said that by joining the Facebook it's easy for us to get in touch. So, i decided to joint it immediately after i'm back to Alor Setar. Then i realized that Facebook really cool, easy to use and i even can get in touch with all my friends since primary school or sort of like Jejak Kasih. Now i got 'karan' with it but don't worry guys, i'm still a blogger. I will never let my blog hiatus for so long. I will update my blog frequently with all my story & thoughts. Now i knew why people so crazy about this Facebook!!!

Imej Kolej Kita Jaga

A CENTURY OLD SCHOOL
1. I came back from a holiday in Croatia to attend the centenary celebration of my alma mater, Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid or Sultan Abdul Hamid College recently.

2. It was a sentimental occasion. Seeing the old school, quite unchanged since I was admitted into Primary I way back in 1932 brought back many sweet/sad memories.

3. The centenary was more meaningful to me because the school was founded by my father who was also its first headmaster. He used to tell me of his experiences when he was headmaster there.

4. It was not in the present building of course. It was housed in a wooden Malay house in the middle of the town of Alor Star. Called the GES or Government English School, he had Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman as one of his students.

5. My father died in 1962. I thought he would like me to attend the centenary. I felt very nostalgic of the good old days when he used to teach me and my brother mathematics.

6. Before I was born he was sent to Pahang to teach at a school in Raub. Then he was sent to Johore to teach at an English school there.

7. Those were very distant places and he had to travel by boat with my mother and my eldest sister. My mother's second child, also a girl was born in Pahang. Mahadi my mother's eldest son was born in Johor Bahru.

8. Father got tired of shifting house and traveling to strange places. He came back to Alor Star and applied for an auditor's job with the Kedah Government.

9. Although his name is Mohamad bin Iskandar, people generally call him "Master" or Mohamad Iskandar. To honour him the primary school attached to Sultan Abdul Hamid College was named "Sekolah Iskandar" inadvertently honouring my grandfather instead. I have never complained.

10. At the main ceremony on the morning of Saturday 26th July the College named three ex-collegiate as the Collegiate of the Centenary. HRH the Sultan was the first, second came Tunku Abdul Rahman and I felt greatly honoured to be named as the third Collegiate of the Centenary. It would be another century before anyone will get this award.

11. To be able to study at the GES was a great privilege in those days. This was the first and only Government English School in Kedah. There were only 30 boys from the whole of Kedah admitted each year. I was one of the lucky ones.

12. Going to school was thrilling to me and I couldn't wait for school holidays to end.

13. I did fairly well and my Senior Cambridge Examinations result was good enough for me to be admitted into the medical faculty of the King Edward VII College of Medicine. I was given financial aid which was not a scholarship. The British Colonial Government apparently practised affirmative action because all my Chinese and Indian classmates had far better results than me. The examination results of the other six Malay students were even worse than mine. There were 70 plus students in all.

14. I owed my teachers in school a great deal. Only one of them, Mr. Zain, is alive today. He was a great teacher and spoke grammatically correct English all the time.

15. Schooling was such a great experience and I recall with fondness many rewarding events that I went through.

16. I hope and pray that all Malaysians remember their school days and the part that school plays in their lives. Getting an education right up to University level is easy now. But we must nevertheless feel grateful for there are more than one billion illiterate people in the world. For them the future promises very little.

Long Live The King (1958 - 2008)

Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah was installed as
Sultan Kedah on 15 July 1958. On 15 July 2008, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah will celebrates his Golden Jubilee after succesfully reign the state of Kedah & on that day also has been declared as public holiday in the whole state of Kedah. As a Kedahan, I'm proud because my king ruled the longest in Malaysia & he also happened to be my super-senior at Sultan Abdul Hamid College. He entered the school 1946 & I entered the school 1992.

Master of Parliament

Lim Kit Siang

He is a prominent leader of the DAP, a democratic socialist party in Malaysia. He holds a degree from University Of London for LLB & started to serve as a MP since 1969. That's why there is no problem for him to overcome challenge from the BN MP in the parliament. According todays Star

At one point, Tajuddin called on a point of order to gain access to rebut Lim, so much so that the DAP man told him to not abuse the Standing Orders.

“Maybe the Backbenchers Club should have classes to teach your MPs how to use the points of order in the House,” Lim said.

Even Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) left the Dewan after he failed to divert Lim.

Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau) also had a taste of Lim’s wrath when he referred to Khairy as “the richest unemployed man” after he sold ECM Libra shares.

Khairy stood up to object, citing point of order, but Lim went on.

At one point, Lim told Khairy “This is not the fourth floor” as the latter started interjecting further.

According to 6 May 2008 Parliament Hansard,

[Tepuk]

Tuan Lim Kit Siang [Ipoh Timur]: Yang Berhormat dari Rembau, graduated daripada Oxford, dia tentu tahu itu expression. [Dewan riuh] Itu pun tak faham! Mahu menjudges satu religious fundamentalis. Ini, kenapa? Dulu dalam Oxford, apa buat? Kita tahu whole of life Yang Berhormat dari Rembau bukan? Apa itu heaven or hell?...

My MP - P.008 POKOK SENA

Name : YB Mahfuz Omar
Age : 51 years
Party Post : PAS Information Chief

I chose him as my MP because he had been very vocal in his previous 1999 Dewan Rakyat term. This time around with a lot of young stalwart opposition MP in Dewan Rakyat such as Gobind Singh Deo(Puchong), Saifuddin Nasution(Machang) & Azmin Ali(Gombak), I bet they will grill Khairy Jamaluddin into dead meat.

Happy New Year 2008 & Salam Maal Hijrah 1429- Belated

New Year's eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.

Quoted by : Hamilton Wright Mabie

Maal Hijrah 1429 and may the richer be less greedy, the poorer be more prosperous and the undeserving be deprived.
